Hostel/budget Hotel Suggestions For A Single Female In Hong Kong?

Author: HKSZ  //  Category: Hotel

I’ll be travelling alone to Hong Kong for the first time for 4 nights in September. What area should I stay in- I am interested in shopping, history, etc. and plan to mostly travel around on my own, without a tour.
And can you reccommend any specific hostels or budget hotels in Hong Kong- are the ones located in Mirador Mansion okay to stay in?
Ideally something around $35 Canadian/$30 US/$205 HKD and close to transportation.
Also any suggestions on how to get there form the airport- metro, bus, or book a private car in advance.
Any help is apprieciated, thanks.

Mirador is great fun — but do a bit of looking around once you get inside. There are some really scummy ones and some pretty nice ones, all for about the same 100 – 150 HK dollars. Try ‘Cosmic’ on the 4th floor, or the original Garden on the 3rd – although it may be more in the 250 HK range now.
Mirador is located in Tsim Tsa Tsui, which is only a 5 minute walk away from that stunning across-the-bay skyline view. And it’s right on top of a metro stop, so no problems getting pretty much anywhere you want to go.
To get there from the airport, follow the ‘public bus’ signs you’ll see in the arrivals hall, and grab public bus A21 — it’s a double decker, so you can check out a few sites during the 40 minute ride. Cheapest way to go, only $33 Hong Kong. Stops are announced in English — get out when you hear ‘Hyatt Regency’ — you’ll be dropped off right in front of Mirador, as it’s directly across the street from the Hyatt. — Best of Luck!

Chungking is not any better or worse than Mirador. Really. There is are a few pages you might want to read about HK that will give you los of options and ideas and shpu;dn’t scare you too much! Going to Hong Kong is a thrilling and exhilerating experience. It is important to keep in mind that Americans have very different standards and backgrounds and expectations when they go somewhere. (The sam people who are “scaring” you will reviews of hostels…. well they might be from small towns, and never even see a big city before, or they might be a million other things) To see some solid info about HK I recommend the below website. Don’t be scared! HK is great.
